I have no recollection of being told that there was no evidence of children being thrown overboard, although I note in the reports that some of the defence personnel had raised that issue, and as I think the task force report indicated or the chronology, which I have never seen, indicated that this did not necessarily mean that children had not been thrown overboard." -John Howard 15/2/2002 '

Friday 6 April 2007

Yesterday I had my third lesson at Lindfield.

I enjoyed myself and found myself a little too relaxed on occasions again. It was all taijutsu with a little bit of defence with a knife.

A little sore again.

Saturday 31 March 2007

On Thursday I had my second lesson at Lindfield.

I enjoyed myself and I even found myself a little too relaxed on a couple of occasions. It was all taijutsu and I am a little sore in a couple of places, nothing to worry about.

Yesterday morning we helped a friend clean the bottom of his boat. Afterwards my lover offered to help me off with my suit, we have done this for each other many many times. I turned my back towards her and immediately started thinking of the next step, breaking down the SCUBA gear and packing it in the car. Yes within a minute I had forgotten she was helping me with my suit.

I felt the pressure on both my shoulders as she pulled the suit down to my arms. I reacted instinctively and moved back with the pressure and stood on her foot.

That's when I realized who it was and what she was doing. Luckily she's very understanding, though limping slightly!

Friday 23 March 2007

Yesterday I had my first lesson at Lindfield.

What can I say, great!

We started with taijutsu, then defend with the bo against unarmed, defend with bo against a sword, defend with bo and short sword against a sword, then back to unarmed defence against unarmed.

It really was much better than Hornsby, very relaxed, smaller class and I actually felt the old skills start to come back.

A much better teaching style for me.

Tuesday 13 March 2007

I attended my first class at Hornsby last night. The format for the classes has changed a lot since my time at Central!

The class was a little large, but I think an acceptable size.

My back is a little sore, which is not much of a worry, but strange since I have had little trouble with it recently and don't recall any problems with it during my previous training.

So far, so good!

My Bumpy Ninjutsu experience

I studied Judo while I was in primary and high school in the 1960s

In the 1980s I became aware that ninjutsu was being taught in Sydney. So I trained at the Wayne Roy dojo at Central, and enjoyed myself, till they moved to the North Shore.

I found someone teaching ninjutsu closer to home, he had splintered off from Wayne Roy and was a good teacher. I continued there till I broke my knee during training in the middle of the 90s. The fellow who ran the dojos didn't even ring to see how I was, even though I sustained the injury during one of his classes. I returned for a couple of classes but no longer felt comfortable there.

I had a short break and then studied Judo again for a short time. After a big change in my life I stopped training.

In 2001 I e mailed all dojos in Sydney with web pages that I could find. I did not receive one reply!

Recently I've had another health scare and my lover and medical adviser agree I should take up martial arts again. It is difficult to attended classes in the evening or on weekends, for family reasons and because of my health and previous injuries I think private lessons would be best.

However after speaking to a number of teachers I will probably look into a small evening class.
